Ice Maker Troubleshooting

1. Failure: Not Making Ice

User Checks

– Water Supply: Verify that the water supply is connected and functioning properly.

– Filter Screen: Check the filter screen for any clogs or debris that might be restricting water flow.

– Room Temperature: Ensure the room temperature is within the optimal range for ice production.

Engineer Checks

-Inlet Valve Coil: Test the inlet valve coil to ensure it is activating correctly.

-Scale on Evaporator: Inspect the evaporator for any scale buildup that could hinder ice formation.

-Refrigerant Leakage: Check for any refrigerant leaks that could affect the cooling process.

-Ice-Full Sensor: Verify the functionality of the ice-full sensor to ensure it is accurately detecting the ice level.

-Pump Operation: Test the pump to ensure it is circulating water effectively.

2. Failure: No Water Intake

User Checks

– Inlet Filter: Check the inlet filter for any clogs or debris that might be blocking water intake.

– Water Source ON: Ensure that the water source is turned on and providing adequate water pressure.

Engineer Checks

– Inlet Valve Voltage: Measure the voltage supplied to the inlet valve to ensure it is receiving the correct power.

– Float Switch: Inspect the float switch to ensure it is not stuck or malfunctioning.

-Replace Inlet Valve: If necessary, replace the inlet valve to restore proper water intake.

3. Failure: No Ice Harvest

User Checks

– Scale Buildup: Check for any scale buildup on the ice-making components that could prevent proper ice harvesting.

Engineer Checks

– Hot Gas Valve: Inspect the hot gas valve to ensure it is functioning correctly during the harvest cycle.

– Expansion Device: Check the expansion device for any issues that could affect the refrigeration cycle.- Ice-Full Probe Sensor: Verify the functionality of the ice-full probe sensor to ensure it is accurately detecting the ice level.
